Enable SMTP Protocol Logging In Microsoft Exchange 2000, 2007, 2010, 2013, 2016, 2019
The easiest method of troubleshooting issues with SMTP connectors in Microsoft Exchange is to enable SMTP protocol logging, this will give you a detailed log of each SMTP connection and any errors or issues that are occurring.
Below you will find links to articles on Microsoft's Technet website that describe how to enable and view the protocol logs:
- Exchange 2003 Protocol Logging
- Exchange 2007 Protocol Logging
- Exchange 2010 Protocol Logging
- Exchange 2013 Protocol Logging
- Exchange 2016 Protocol Logging
- Exchange 2019 Protocol Logging
Important: We would recommend that you disable protocol logging once you have finished diagnosing any issues otherwise it will generate large log files and unnecessarily use up space on your server.
If you have an AuthSMTP account and require assistance understanding your protocol log file to diagnose an issue using AuthSMTP please raise a support ticket via the control panel.
